The Blue Jays got some good news after the off-day on a variety of injury fronts.
Danny Valencia’s sprained ankle was improved enough for him to start in left field Friday. Left fielder Michael Saunders has responded well to a cortisone shot on his ailing left knee and has been cleared to play as well. An MRI of Jose Reyes’ injured rib revealed that the fracture is on the mend.
“It’s healing up so he’s going to start baseball activities today,” said manager John Gibbons. “He’ll stretch with the team, take some groundballs and hit off a tee.
