Chicago White Sox hitting coach Todd Steverson got the dreaded vote of confidence from team president Kenny Williams last week.
"It's always nice to hear from your boss,'' Steverson, a former Blue Jay farmhand, told Chicago reporters. "I appreciate the kind words, but I'm not going to stop and say 'woo-hoo' because of it."
Smart move, given that the White Sox have scored the fewest runs in all of Major League Baseball (270), and they stand 29th out of 30 teams in OPS (.655), doubles (111) and slugging (.359). They're 26th in OBP (.296) and 27th in home runs (58).
