Happ efficient, but Blue Jays blanked by Rays

ST. PETERSBURG -- Toronto's offense squandered a fine outing by starter J.A. Happ in a 1-0 loss to the Rays on Wednesday afternoon at Tropicana Field.

The win gave the Rays the series sweep and dropped Toronto to 1-5 against Tampa Bay this season. It also marked the 12th time the Blue Jays have been held to one run or fewer this season.

Happ, who did not factor in the decision, threw five shutout innings of one-hit ball, striking out four and walking three.

The closest thing the Rays had to a rally against the veteran lefty came with two outs in the bottom of the third.
