Let me ask a question: What’s worse? John Gibbons’ sexist crack about the Blue Jays wearing dresses next time they come out on the field, or a well-known Toronto activist joking, in a quickly-deleted tweet, about killing people?
From the reaction in this city, the answer is the crack about dresses.
Gibbons’ comment was all over the national news for two straight days (and counting), while the tweet made by the activist did not get a single mention on the national news — at least not on the network I watch.
The day after his infamous and, yes, insensitive comment, I tweeted that Gibbons should be aware of the fact he manages in Toronto, “where the PC police are the most ardent in the world.
