Former Blue Jays pitcher Norris battling cancer

The Blue Jays offered Daniel Norris the option to shut down his season once it was determined early in the season the left-handed pitcher was suffering from thyroid cancer.

But Norris chose to proceed with his pitching and when the Blue Jays sent Norris to the Detroit Tigers as part of the deal for David Price, the Tigers were well informed about Norris’ condition.

Norris announced Monday through social media that he was being treated for thyroid cancer and that he was diagnosed with a malignant tumour back in April.

Apparently, Norris felt well enough to continue pitching.
