Can’t remember a stretch when so many of baseball’s top prospects have found their way to The Show all at once. Yes, there is usually a mild rush when the floating Super-2 window opens and teams don’t lose a year of contract control over their elite callups. But nothing like this. In the space of 13 days, we had four players ranked in Baseball America’s pre-season top 10 all make their MLB debuts: Twins OF Byron Buxton (ranked No. 2), Astros SS Carlos Correa (4), Rangers 3B Joey Gallo (6) and Indians SS Francisco Lindor (9). Add in those who either began the season with their MLB teams — OFs Joc Pederson (8) of the Dodgers and Cubs’ Jorge Soler (12) — or earned earlier promotions in Kris Bryant (1) Addison Russell (3) and Kyle Schwarber (19) of the Cubs; Mets’ Noah Syndergaard (11); White Sox’s Carlos Rodon (15); and Red Sox’s Blake Swihart (17) and Rusney Castillo (21) and that’s 13 of BA’s top 21 currently in the majors.
