One of the early-season feel-good stories is Royals backup OF Paulo Orlando. The 29-year-old rookie from Sao Paulo, has five hits in 16 at-bats heading into Saturday, but four of those have been triples. His first three hits were three-baggers, which was a major-league first. No revelation here, but the guy can flat-out fly. He grew up in soccer-mad Brazil excelling at track where he competed in the junior Olympics in the 200 and 400 metres. But he was also captivated early on by the relatively obscure sport of baseball (there is only one diamond in Sao Paulo) and his speed and size caught the eye of a White Sox Cuban scout who signed him in 2005.
