Some more odds and ends from spring training leading up to our annual five-part preview beginning March 27:
— Pete O’Brien is doing his thing this spring, just for a new team. Traded from the Diamondbacks to the Royals in the off-season, the big 1B/LF, has homered (5) or struck out (14) in almost half of his 40 at-bats. O’Brien is blocked at his two positions by Alex Gordon and Eric Hosmer, and the Royals signed veteran Brandon Moss as their DH replacement for Kendrys Morales. O’Brien’s power potential has to be enticing but, quite frankly, why the Royals signed him is puzzling.
