— Ballsy moves by the Boston Red Sox, throwing away contract considerations and announcing, several days apart, that Brock Holt and Travis Shaw will be their opening-day LF and 3B, respectively. That leaves nearly $30 million in 2016 salary on the bench in Rusney Castillo and Pablo Sandoval. Shaw deserves a starting role after hitting 13 HRs in two months as their 1B last season. Holt, too, proved his value last season, providing solid defence at an assortment of positions while batting .
