This was supposed be the last season for Freddy Galvis as the Phillies’ starting SS. Last year, the light-hitting, utility infielder was given the task of keeping the position warm for elite prospect J.P. Crawford, who was expected to make his MLB debut next month and take over in 2017. But two things have occurred that might alter the Phillies thinking. Crawford underwent a few key changes in his batting stance at triple-A and has not had one of those get-me-up-there kind of campaigns offensively (.254, 3 HRs, 7 SBs in 330 plate appearances). Meanwhile, Galvis, for the second year in a row, has looked like more than a stop-gap option.
