BOCA RATON, FLA. - Former Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos looked like the manager of a prize fighter as he bopped around the lobby of the prestigious Boca Raton Resort and Club on Monday afternoon.
In town to accept his MLB Executive of the Year Award at a dinner Monday night, Anthopoulos carried what looked like a championship belt, the type professional boxers receive when they win a world title.
A Japanese journalist asked Anthopoulos if he would pose for a picture with the belt, but Anthopoulos declined, saying that the belt was organizational award for outstanding work in arbitration and wasn’t appropriate for him now that he’s left the Jays to be posing for pictures.
