TORONTO -- Edwin Encarnacion was out of the lineup for the second game in a row on Tuesday as the Blue Jays began a three-game series against the A's at Rogers Centre. Toronto's cleanup hitter is still dealing with a finger injury he aggravated on Saturday vs. the Yankees.
"It's not quite ready to go," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. "Hopefully maybe tomorrow. Day to day."
The middle finger on Encarnacion's left hand has been bothering him for several weeks now, forcing him to miss two games in late July. It popped back up over the weekend, and the club hoped a day off Monday would be enough to resolve the issue.
