Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson returned to the club after a 38-game absence with the same old, aggressive attitude but with at least one new twist.
Donaldson wore a batting helmet with a face protector shield and the 2015 AL MVP didn’t seem to be particularly thrilled to be asked about it.
“Well, I did get hit in the face last year. Were you around for that?” said Donaldson when asked why he is wearing the new helmet. “(Throwing inside) is part of the game but I feel there’s a lot of balls that get lost up and in on me and it’s just one thing else I can (use to) protect my face.
