TORONTO -- Shortstop Aledmys Diaz was removed from Tuesday night's game against the White Sox in the bottom of the sixth inning because of back spasms.
Diaz homered earlier in the game but had to be removed after he took an awkward swing in the sixth. It's not immediately clear how severe the injury is, but Diaz is at least temporarily considered day to day. Gift Ngoepe will assume responsibilities at shortstop until Diaz can return.
