DETROIT - The absence of Devon Travis from Toronto’s everyday lineup isn’t about to end soon, but there are at least indications that the often-injured second baseman is making progress.
Travis was taking some ground balls prior to Toronto’s game Saturday, and while it was only 20 it was still more than manager John Gibbons expected at this point in his rehab.
“To be honest, when they told me yesterday he was going to take ground balls that surprised me,” Gibbons said.
Travis has been our since June 6 and was transferred to the 60-day disabled list on June 28.
