TORONTO - Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin seemed uncomfortable when told that the Jays' starters always make a point of praising him following a good start.
Toronto's rotation is having a great year collectively and to a man they credit Martin with much of their success this season - his game-calling, his pitch-framing, just his presence behind the plate.
"Well, I'm a competitor, man," said Martin. "There's nobody out there on the field that's trying to win more than me. So I think pitchers appreciate that. But really, I'm just doing what I like to do. I'm just doing my job out there and I appreciate them competing with me and we're competing out there together.
