Geoff Horne doesn’t need to describe his excitement at being part of the championship team, back in 1993.
Watch any clip of the Toronto Blue Jays, right after Joe Carter scored his legendary World Series winning home run, and you can see Horne for yourself, launching himself from the bench into the field in giddy delight.
“If you watch the clip, I’m the one running with both fists in the air,” said Horne, now a lawyer living in Calgary.
Horne’s hands were still bare back then, the gloriously garish World Series ring he’d earned as the Blue Jay’s strength and conditioning co-ordinator having yet to be cast — and now, 23 years later, his finger has been made barren again.
