Right-hander Brad Penny, who has pitched 14 years in the majors, mentioned wearing a Team USA uniform was one of the greatest thrills of his career to the others in the seats usually reserved for relievers.
Penny told of being part of the USA rotation with Mark Mulder, Ryan Anderson and John Patterson at the 1999 Pan Am Games in Winnipeg and how Canada edged the favoured USA on a ball lost in the sun off the bat of “that guy right there” .
