The Blue Jays acquired Socrates Brito in the Kevin Pillar package from the San Francisco Giants and in the beginning, I was willing to see what a change of scenery could do for the 26-year old outfielder. However, it is abundantly clear why Brito became expendable with the Diamondbacks and Padres.
The outfielder is now hitless in 14 at-bats with seven strikeouts since joining the Blue Jays and has looked absolutely horrible on breaking balls, worse than Pillar horrible. Brito whiffed twice yesterday and once with the bases loaded in the 9th inning after manager Charlie Montoyo did not opt for a pinch hitter even though Teoscar Hernandez was available on the bench.
