Held it all together in the first half, when he found himself managing a team that had just one effective relief pitcher and just one outfielder. You have to like that. I've long thought that decisions work better when you commit themselves to them. Men like Bobby Cox and Dick Williams always had an unshakeable belief in their own judgement - once they made a decision, they stuck with it.
