ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Blue Jays released former No. 1 starter Ricky Romero on Saturday afternoon.

Toronto is on the hook for the remainder of Romero's salary. He was making $7.5 million this year with a $600,000 buyout that was due at the end of the year.
