Infielder Danny Espinosa exercised his May 01st opt-out clause allowing the veteran to become a free agent. The Jays had inked Espinosa to a minor league pact midway through spring training however he was unable to break camp with the big club and was assigned to Triple-A Buffalo.
Espinosa struggled with the herd hitting .232/.271/.286 with no home runs and 15 strikeouts in 13 games with Buffalo. The 31-year old is an 8-year MLB veteran with 98 career round-trippers as he looks to land on his feet with a new organization.
