Ahead of the official start to the second half of the baseball season, the Blue Jays have made a move, recalling infielder Richard Urena from Triple-A Buffalo, the team announced Friday afternoon. Considering this move is being made to fill the 25th roster spot that was previously empty, there is no corresponding roster move.
Urena, 22, was signed by the Blue Jays as an international free agent in 2012, and has previously been listed as one of the franchise’s top prospects. Having previously played with the Lansing Lugnuts, Dunedin Blue Jays and New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the native of Duarte, Dominican Republic is well travelled as far as the minor leagues go.
