The Blue Jays bandwagon apparently has wings.
As the team prepared for the American League Division Series, the Jays reached the 1-million-follower mark on Twitter on Wednesday.
The team has long embraced it’s fans on Twitter, but the @BlueJays official account soared this season, gaining more than more than 350,000 followers, Twitter Canada’s director of media Christopher Doyle said.
He credited three main factors for the team’s single-season record-high jump in followers.
“Their performance on the field, their use of Twitter to engage fans in stadium and the fact that so many of the players are very active on Twitter: (Marcus) Stroman, David Price, (Jose) Bautista, Edwin (Encarnacion), (Chris) Colabello, (Kevin) Pillar.
