TORONTO -- The Blue Jays have placed left-hander Franklin Morales on the 15-day disabled list with left shoulder fatigue, retroactive to Thursday. The club then activated Marco Estrada to start Sunday afternoon's series finale against the Red Sox.
Morales signed a non-guaranteed contract before the end of Spring Training to give the Blue Jays additional left-handed depth in their bullpen. The 30-year-old warmed up in the fifth inning of Friday's 8-7 home-opening loss to the Red Sox, but did not make an appearance.
"He couldn't get loose," manager John Gibbons said Friday. "The arm was dead and something wasn't right.
