It was speculated that the Blue Jays had interest in pitcher Kyle Gibson heading into the free-agent frenzy, however, the 32-year old signed a 3 year/ $30 million dollar pact with the Texas Rangers.
Gibson went 13-9 with a 4.84 earned run average with a 9.0 SO/9 ratio and a 0.3 WAR in 34 games last season with Minnesota. The financial implications are around market value but that third year was probably the clincher for Gibson’s camp.
I am not sure I would have wanted the Blue Jays to go any more than two-years guaranteed on Gibson.
