Blue Jays' Morales no one-trick pony

The Blue Jays pulled off a bit of a surprise deal on Saturday night, signing veteran lefthanded relief pitcher Franklin Morales to a one-year contract for $2 million.

Morales has a solid history of handling left-handed hitters, limiting lefties to a .210 batting average in 596 career at-bats while pitching for Colorado, Boston and Kansas City. After a solid season with the 2015 World Series champion Royals in which he had a 3.18 ERA in 62 innings, he went to camp with Milwaukee but was given his release last week.

To make room for Morales, reliever Ryan Tepera was sent to Buffalo.
