DUNEDIN — When Blue Jays manager John Gibbons listens to the radio, it’s likely country and western or classic rock being played. If he had been listening to the OverDrive show on TSN this week, he probably would have fallen off his chair.
TSN 1050 Blue Jays analyst Dirk Hayhurst told OverDrive hosts Bryan Hayes, Jamie McLennan and Jeff O’Neill that the Jays would be well-advised to dump recently signed pitcher Mat Latos, despite the fact that they need depth in the rotation and bullpen and the big right-hander brings a lot of upside to the mound.
“I really wouldn’t be surprised if you see Latos get released before spring training is out,” said Hayhurst, a former Jays pitcher turned author-broadcaster.
