Blue Jays' Martin day-to-day, Saunders hurting

Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin was originally scheduled to catch Drew Hutchison on Sunday afternoon at the Rogers Centre against the Oakland A’s, but was pulled a couple of hours before the game and replaced by Josh Thole. Martin was taken out of Friday’s game against the Oakland A’s because of neck spasms. Manager John Gibbons said Martin is day-to-day.

“You know when your neck bothers you it affects everything in this game, your throwing, your hitting, all that stuff,” said the manager.

Gibbons decided to give left fielder Michael Saunders another day off to deal with his hamstring issues.
