General Manager Ross Atkins addressed the media on Monday afternoon and indicated that the Jays were not close to any potential deals. According to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet, Atkins met with five teams and five firms yesterday to discuss potential deals and signings while laying the groundwork for later in the offseason.
Atkins also met with the agent of Troy Tulowitzki in Las Vegas which is curious if nothing else, however, Tulowitzki does reside in the area but was not present for the meeting.
The Jays are fielding calls for the services of both Marcus Stroman and Aaron Sanchez but Atkins and company would need a “fair return” to pull the trigger on any potential deal involving either of the hurlers.
