Not sure what John Gibbons wished for on his 53rd birthday but a six-run first inning is as good a gift as any manager could receive.
It was about all the game that Gibbons took in from the dugout, though, as he was tossed in the bottom of the second by first base umpire Angel Hernandez. It was Gibbons’ first ejection of the season and the first by a Blue Jay of any stripe this campaign.
Hernandez must have good ears as Gibby was ejected following a check-swing strikeout by Jose Bautista.
And a happy birthday to you too, sir.
