CLEVELAND - Daniel Norris bent but didn’t break Thursday and while his aborted start didn’t last long enough for him to get credit for this 5-1 Blue Jays victory over the Cleveland Indians, the high wire he walked for three innings was something to behold.
Norris battled his command through a 78-pitch outing, going to a full count on seven of the 15 hitters he faced, yet he made enough quality pitches to strand six baserunners and give his offence a chance to bust loose and get a much-needed win in the opener of a four-game set.
After Norris had wobbled his way through three scoreless innings, the Jays scored five times in the top of the fourth.
