Blue Jays feeling optimistic as opening day nears

DUNEDIN, FLA. - For the first Blue Jays game under the lights in Dunedin in eight years, John Gibbons sent out the closest thing to a regular-season starting nine than he has all spring.

And before the 7-1 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies began on Monday night, the Toronto manager talked at length about the optimism that awaits now that the season opener in Baltimore is less than a week away.

“We feel good,” Gibbons said outside of the Jays clubhouse at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. “It’s a little bit different look and a few new faces but we feel confident.
