ST. PETERSBURG -- The Blue Jays salvaged a victory by scoring on a ninth-inning wild pitch Sunday, defeating the Rays, 2-1, at Tropicana Field.
On the first offering to Blue Jays batter Anthony Alford, Rays closer Alex Colome unleashed a wild pitch that bounced and rolled through the legs of catcher Wilson Ramos. Kevin Pillar, who led off the ninth with a double and advanced on a ground ball, scored easily from third base.
Blue Jays closer Roberto Osuna worked the ninth inning to earn his ninth save.
