Blue Jays second baseman Devon Travis, who hit .300 last season, continued to show signs on Sunday that he is breaking out of his early season funk.
Travis hit a pair of doubles against the Seattle Mariners and is finally inching close the Mendoza Line (.200) after starting the season freezing cold. At spring training, manager John Gibbons suggested that some day Travis will win a batting title, and he hasn’t lost faith in his young infielder.
“When I see him when he gets in trouble, I think he goes out to get the ball too much,” Gibbons said.
