Patience appears to be the offseason plan as the Blue Jays have yet to dip into the free agent market as of yet. The Jays look as if they will fill in the remaining roster pieces from the free agent scrap pile at the conclusion of the offseason.
Atkins will in all likelihood build his bullpen much like last season, signing proven veterans on below-market deals with the intention of flipping them at the trade deadline. That paid dividends last season with John Axford and Seunghwan Oh.
President Mark Shapiro addressed the media earlier this week acknowledging that the Blue Jays are not going to pace the free agent market, which has been very evident thus far.
