The Blue Jays added depth to the catching position claiming 26-year old Luke Maile from their division rival Tampa Bay Rays. The former 8th round selection in the 2012 amateur draft has 57 major league games under his belt over the past two seasons with the Rays.
Maile owns a career .214/.234/.338 slash line with 33 hits including 3 home runs in 161 career plate appearances in the majors. The backstop does have a career .257 batting average with 19 round trippers in 400 minor league contests
The new Blue Jay will provide minor league catching depth complimenting the likes of Mike Ohlman, Juan Graterol, Max Pentecost and Reese McGuire on the farm.
