Blue Jays brass not worried about pitching [Video]

TORONTO - The new Blue Jays front office isn’t worried about pitching. It doesn’t want fans to be, either.

In a news conference introducing Ross Atkins as the Jays’ new general manager, both he and president Mark Shapiro made it clear that, except for a few complementary pieces, they have the utmost confidence in the current starting rotation and bullpen.

“In terms of depth, we’ll look for pieces beyond the major-league team and see how we can fortify the depth that way,” said Atkins. “But, absolutely, we believe the rotation is enough to contend.”

While much of the focus has been on the organization’s front-of-the-house changes, there have been questions about the state of the pitching, especially with the losses of starters Mark Buerhle (to free agency or retirement) and David Price to the Boston Red Sox.
