Blue Jays awaken a sleeping giant

KANSAS CITY - All season long, they had a hit for every occasion. A bloop, a blast, a seeing-eye single, two more bombs, a ball off the wall and then a little dribbler down the line. Whatever it took.

In one ninth-inning rally against Houston, they even had a Jose Bautista pop-up that landed right where Jose Reyes was standing on second base, obstructing, quite legally, the Astros’ attempt for an out. Crazy stuff.

It was a breathtaking 891-run season for the Blue Jays. From top to bottom, their lineup delivered. No lead was safe. They crushed Cy Young winners and aging journeymen hanging on by their fingernails, alike.
