Blue Jays at Athletics: The A's make too many Es

Bad fielding, bad relief pitching and bad luck.

It all added up to a lousy start to the baseball season for the Oakland Athletics.

Even though they rallied with 27 wins in their last 47 games before the all-star break and came out of the break by defeating the Twins two of three, the A's are still looking at an eight-game deficit in the AL West.

On defence, Oakland committed 82 errors in the first half, by far the most in Major League Baseball. Shortstop Marcus Semien's 28 errors are the third-most in Oakland history and there are still 68 games to play.
