Blue Jays appeal coach's suspension

TORONTO - Blue Jays hitting coach Brook Jacoby has been suspended 14 games without pay by Major League Baseball for an unspecified post-game incident April 29 in Boston involving the umpires.

The Jays said they will appeal the suspension and will not comment until the appeal is held.

Jacoby, 55, is in his first year as the hitting coach of the Jays.

He will remain with the club as their hitting coach until the appeal is heard.
