Blue Jays' 9th inning rally falls short in nailbiting loss to Yankees

NEW YORK - Three times the Blue Jays had the lead against the Yankees on Tuesday night and three times they dropped the ball.

And when it was all said and done, the pesky Yankees, who refuse to throw in the towel despite being in the midst of a rebuild, came away with a 7-6 victory against the stumbling Jays who have now lost four out of their last five and two straight.

Toronto’s big failure in the Bronx on Tuesday was their inability to capitalize with runners on base, stranding 12, after leaving eight standing in a 5-3 loss on Monday.
