Stanek will make his 27th appearance as an “opener” for the Rays. He’s struck out six in six scoreless innings this month and last appeared in relief on Tuesday against the Rangers.
Gaviglio was supposed to start Wednesday in Baltimore, but his start was pushed back a day to accommodate Marco Estrada. The move might be good for Gaviglio, who has a 3.23 ERA at home vs. a 7.91 ERA on the road.
