Bautista (shoulder), Reyes (rib) improving

TORONTO -- The Blue Jays received some positive news on the injury front Tuesday afternoon as Jose Bautista and Jose Reyes continued to make positive strides in their returns to the field.

Bautista was scheduled to throw for the second consecutive day as he recovers from a strained right shoulder. The veteran slugger hasn't played the field since April 21, but he should be able to return in the not-so-distant future now that a throwing program is under way. Bautista has been able to stay in the lineup as designated hitter.

Toronto doesn't want to put a timeframe on when he'll play the field again, but the fact that Bautista was scheduled to throw one day after his initial workout was positive news for everyone involved.
