HOUSTON - The Blue Jay bats have gone about as cold as you could imagine, racking up historic strikeout totals, an anemic batting average and a paltry 10 runs over four games.
But, somehow, they managed to turn that pathetic offence into three wins out of four games here against the Astros, finishing it off Thursday night with a 4-1 decision that pulls them back into a virtual tie for the American League East, percentage points behind the Baltimore Orioles.
Amazingly, with one swing of the bat in the opener, they could have made it a clean sweep.
