Bats don’t help Buehrle this time as Rays sweep Jays

ST. PETERSBURG, FLA. - When Mark Buehrle pitches, it’s usually raining runs.

But not Sunday. Chris Archer turned off the tap.

In his first three starts for the Blue Jays, the runs all came pouring Buehrle’s way as his teammates graced him with 37 runs of support. In his first two starts, the Jays scored 12 runs each game while in his last start, against Baltimore, they upped it by one to 13.

The flow of runs for Buehrle, however, dried up as soon as Archer stepped on the mound.

This season Archer has been sensational and the right-hander exited Sunday’s game having not given up an earned run in four consecutive starts, a total of 26.
