Blue Jays sideline reporter Barry Davis is no longer on the sidelines.
Or in the clubhouse. Or in the dugout. Or in the Rogers Sportsnet studios.
He’s out. Gone from the Blue Jays broadcasts.
The in-game reporter gig this season will be handled by Hazel Mae, with Arash Madani joining throughout the season in an expanded role.
And while Davis’ departure raised some eyebrows on the Toronto sports scene — and with his many followers — there is uncertainty over whether he was pushed or quit.
According to a source at Rogers, the network (for reasons not clearly stated) told Davis they were taking him off the Jays broadcasts and gave him the option of taking on a different role with the company.
