Mark Shapiro was partway through his introduction of sort of general manager Ross Atkins Friday morning when he showed, again, that he really doesn’t have any feel yet for the market he is now working in.
He mentioned the name John Farrell — like that was a good thing, like that would impress people.
He mentioned Farrell, who used to work for him, who used to be Atkins’ boss, not in any way realizing his name is poison around here. Next thing you know, he’ll be using J.P. Ricciardi as a point of reference (OK, maybe he’s not that tone-deaf, but still).
