Aaron Loup demoted, Blue Jays have an opening

TORONTO - Is the Messiah (alumnus) coming?

With lefty Aaron Loup demoted Sunday and the Blue Jays on their way to a National League park for a two-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies, they likely will be calling up an outfielder.

Chris Heisey, a 17th-round pick of the Cincinnati Reds from the NCAA Div. III Messiah College (Pa.) Falcons in 2006, is one player that the Jays have discussed.

Heisey, 30, hit .154 with a double and a .545 OPS in 17 games with the Los Angeles Dodgers before being released. The Jays signed him and in five games at triple-A Buffalo he's hitting .
