Zayat Sells Breeding Rights to American Pharoah

Ahmed Zayat, who owns the breeding rights to the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner American Pharoah, announced on Tuesday that they have been sold to Coolmore Stud, which is based in Ireland.

The son of Pioneerof the Nile is due in New York for the June 6 Belmont Stakes and an opportunity to become horse racing’s 12th Triple Crown winner and the first to do so since Affirmed in 1978.

“He only deserves the best of the best,” Zayat said on his Twitter account.

The sale was first reported late Tuesday on paulickreport.
